A payment processor enables the use of various payment methods, such as credit cards, online banking payments, and mobile payments, in an online store with a single agreement.

Payment processors naturally charge a service fee for their service. Fees typically consist of a monthly fee, a transaction fee, a commission, and various additional services.

There are no significant differences in the pricing of the most popular online payment processors. For a new online merchant, a service without a monthly fee can be a good and attractive option, but as sales volumes increase, the higher commissions of fee-free packages will nevertheless result in higher overall costs.

With this calculator, you can compare the fees charged by different online payment processors. The calculator compares Paytrail, BlueCommerce, Klarna Checkout, Svea, and Visma Pay. The calculator only compares the costs of bank and credit card payments. Thus, the calculator does not include, for example, mobile payments, installment payments, and invoices. The prices used in the calculator are based on the prices published on the service providers’ websites in March 2024 (Paytrail, Bluecommerce, Klarna, Svea, Visma Pay).

The calculator’s results are indicative, and we recommend confirming prices directly with the payment processors. The calculator also does not account for individual exceptions, such as higher commissions charged by some payment processors when paying with an American Express credit card or Nordea online banking.
